What is Qurban?

Qurban (also called Udhiyah) is the act of sacrificing a livestock animal — typically a sheep, goat, or cow — on the days of Eid al-Adha in remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son. It is an act of worship, not just charity. For Muslims in Singapore and globally, Qurban is typically fulfilled by booking through a service provider who sources and slaughters the animal on their behalf.

The Problem With Most Qurban Arrangements

When you book a Qurban share through a service provider, you are essentially pooling your payment to purchase part of an animal you've never seen. While this is valid and widely practised, some Muslims feel disconnected from the act — they don't know where the animal came from, how it was raised, or whether it was healthy and well-cared-for.

Own Your Animal All Year — Then Sacrifice It

The OwnerSheep Programme changes this relationship entirely. Through the programme, you own physical sheep registered in your name — raised at certified halal farms in Malaysia by Aliyah Rizq Holdings. When Dhul Hijjah arrives, you can designate one of your own sheep for Qurban sacrifice. You receive bi-annual health reports on your animals, so when the time comes, you know exactly where your Qurban animal has been and how it was cared for.

Requirements for a Valid Qurban Animal

Islamic scholars specify that Qurban animals must be healthy, free from obvious defects, and of a minimum age (1 year for sheep/goats in the majority scholarly position). The sheep in the OwnerSheep Programme are managed under expert veterinary oversight at certified halal farms, ensuring they meet shariah requirements for Qurban. How to Arrange Qurban Through OwnerSheep

Once you are a participant in the OwnerSheep Programme, simply contact SG Aqiqah via WhatsApp in advance of Dhul Hijjah to designate one of your animals for Qurban. Can I Also Use My Sheep for Aqiqah?
