Among the most famous examples is Umar ibn al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه), who received land in Khaybar and asked the Prophet ﷺ what to do with it. The Prophet ﷺ advised him to make it wakaf — to retain the land itself and donate its produce as charity. This became one of the earliest and most referenced examples of wakaf in Islamic history.
